After the Bishop museum, we went to Uncle Gabe's house. Uncle Gabe is a retired fireman who loves children. He has created a wonderful garden in his backyard. There are ponds with fish and plants. He had bamboo for us to sand and make wooden flutes. Together with our penpals we made some great sounds with our flutes.
Our penpals then shared more of their dances with us. They are really good. It is part of their school day to learn the hula. Their dances tell stories and welcome people. After hearing them sing and dance we realized we need to practice a little more and sing louder.
It was so fun at Uncle Gabe's. We sat with our feet in the cool water and sanded away. He even cut a fruit right off his tree for us to try. It is kind of like a small tart apple, but way hard to bit into the skin. Donald's really like them.
