At the Dole Plantation some of us picked an oyster to see if we had a pearl. We would tap it three times and say "Alo---ha!" Then the lady would open the shell to see our pearl. Ashley got a white one which meant beauty and happiness. She put it in a little gold shell and gave it to her mother for Mother's Day.
