This is the group with Paul Comeau. He owns the condo we stayed at. He is real nice and gave Lynda a plumeria lei from a tree in his own yard. That is his little blue sports car in the background. The kids were real impressed with it. Paul use to be a teacher and then realized he could make a lot more money dealing real estate. I don't know too many teachers that own condos and sports cars. I guess he made the right decision.

The condo

Our condo was big! The pictures on the internet website do not do it justice. The view on one side is the ocean and the other is the mountains. It was a penthouse on the 8th floor. WOW!

Celebrating birthdays at the condo

Since Gary's birthday was right before we left and Donald's is shortly after we returned, we decided to celebrate their birthday's in Hawaii. We BBQ'd steaks, vegies, and fresh corn and then had delicious cake! Yum Yum!

Waimea Falls

Waimea Falls was fun. We saw a peacock, and beautiful flowers and trees. We ran a race and enjoyed the sun and green grass. That is until the mosquitos started eating us alive. Thought we were back in Alaska for a moment.

One of the roadside fruit stands where we bought bananas, kiwi, fresh corn, and other yummy things. We also saw a field of sheep!

We saw so many different things and so many wonderful things that when we had a change to crash we crashed hard and anywhere we could.

We always had great snacks at the condo. We had fresh pineapple, watermelon, apple bananas, baby oranges, and all kinds of things. The condo was huge and beautiful with 4 lanais (balcony's). We really liked it. There was plenty of room for all of us.
We had lots of fun swimming at the pool at the condo.

At the end of the show was Kap the fire knife dancer. He had everyone on the edge of their seats. It was so fun watching the kids' jaw drop as he put the fire knives on his bare feet. After the show several of the cast members came to say hi to our group. We were given the royal treatment all day. As Ashley said "that was some good play!"

Ha, Da'Breath of Life

After the tour and all of the excitement during the day at the Polynesian Cultural Center we had the best seats in the house for the big show "Ha, Da' Breath of Life". It had fire walkers, and dancers, and a wedding, and told the story of a boy and how life was breathed into him from his parents and it continues on through his children.

Even Annette had fun at the luau in her little Hawaiian dress. The dancers were fun to watch and the music was as good as the food.

Yumm I sure wish we had some of that food now. It sure was good. Amanda and Reuben went up on stage and danced to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary that was the week before we left.

At the luau we all got pineapple smoothies. They are a hollowed out pineapple with either strawberry, mango or pinacoloda smoothie inside. They were fantastic tasting!
The luau was so fun. There was a lot of people there. We ate kulua pig that was cooked in an imu (big pit in the ground), and lomi lomi, salad, sweet potatoes, taro root, and deserts inlcuding hapua (coconut pudding). It was all very good. There was singers and dancers to entertain us also.

We also learned to play the Ukulele and how to hula dance.

At the Hawaiian village we learned Hawaiian games and even ate Poi. It taste like purple glue. Not bad, but not good either.

We saw this big outrigger canoe at the Fiji village also. Their people were impressed to meet Eskimos.

At the Fiji village we saw dancers and learned to play bamboo sticks. The girls have dots on their faces for tatoos. It was fun trying to learn how to play the bamboo sticks. You had to be careful so you didn't hit your foot.

Tonga

At the Tonga village they played big drums, conch shells and nose flutes. We learn a dance we could do while sitting down. They had a guy come up on stage from Arizona that tried to play the drums. He had trouble following the lead guy and started singing "Who let the dogs out?" It was real funny.
